What are Sealed, Double Row Spherical Roller Bearings?
Sealed spherical roller bearings have two rows of spherical rollers in the outer ring that creates the ability for mutual tipping of the bearing’s rings, allowing for the simultaneous transfer of radial and axial loads in both directions. The sealed spherical roller bearings can be made with a cylindrical or tapered bore, making them ideal for applications with high loads where tipping may be an issue.
Sealed, double row spherical roller bearings function the same as standard open, double row spherical roller bearings; however, the sealed bearings prevent dirt, debris, and other impurities from contaminating the bearing. ZKL’s New Force sealed, double row spherical roller bearings are designed with three different types of seal material to maximize protection from any contaminants. (NBR, HNBR, and FKM rubber) Contamination can cause the bearing to wear more quickly, increase maintenance costs, and it increases the risk and costs of manufacturing downtime.
Sealed, double row spherical roller bearings can carry the same weight loads as traditional open, double row spherical bearings, but the sealed bearings can be operated at lower speeds and can be re-lubricated through holes in the outer ring. This allows for an increased lifespan of the sealed bearing and essentially makes it “maintenance free”.
